Proctors, through the Collaborative School of the Arts, runs several summer programs for young performers in Schenectady. Broadway Camp is the flagship, in which students mount a full-scale musical production (a recent season staged Sweeney Todd: School Edition); Broadway Camp Jr. is an introduction to musical theatre for younger performers covering acting, singing, and dancing. Summer Studio has students train with professional theatre artists in scene work, improv, voice, movement, and storytelling both onstage and backstage at theREP, and Reel Adventures is a filmmaking program in which students write, shoot, and edit short films that screen at Proctors. Auditions are required for some programs. Camper ages, session lengths, and daily hours are not stated.

The performance was excellent, especially Cinderella and her mother, who both played their roles beautifully. Their acting and dancing made the show very enjoyable for us. We also really loved the theater itself. The building had a classic and elegant old-style design that created a special atmosphere. Everything inside the theater was beautiful, and we truly enjoyed our time there.

They offer a great variety of performances, and we're already excited to come back soon. The staff was phenomenal — so helpful and genuinely sweet. I also loved the holiday decorations! Seeing How the Grinch Stole Christmas: The Musical was super cool, especially the indoor “snow” drifting down from the balcony. One of the bars offers premade cocktails, beer, and wine, and there’s seating available if you want to grab a bite before the show. Plus, the view of Jay Street (and the Christmas tree!) is a nice touch. Overall, a really delightful experience!
