Prairie Fire Children's Theatre is a professional touring company based in Barrett, Minnesota that runs week-long theatre camps in host communities across the upper Midwest. During a one-week residency, two professional actor-directors cast local children ages 7–15, rehearse a play, and stage two weekend performances. No experience is needed–everyone who registers is cast, and costumes, music, and scenery are provided.

As a kid, I played Toto in the mid-90s Silver Bay production of The Wizard of Oz and had such a great time! if anyone happens to have footage, please reach out :)

I've been doing these shows since I was seven years old. I started out in Peter Pan as a pirate and ended my decade long run with the theatre company as Prince John in Robin Hood. It's an excellent way to introduce children to stories and fairy tales, while instilling in them the values of teamwork and participation. I hope to one day direct a PFCT show and give back to the company that gave me so much. The shows range in quality (as most of them were written in the 1980's/1990's) but nonetheless, it is important have your child participate in at least one show with them. I only wish the shows were rehearsing for a month instead of a week because it feels like it's over too fast.

Jordan & Brian are absolutely amazing! Funny, efficient, AMAZING with the kiddos!! Our son Landun is in 1st grade, (completely out of his comfort zone) decides to try out for Pinocchio! Even after a bit of a long week, is SO proud of himself!! (Also noticing all of the family and friends that came to see him perform!) Says (after a long day 1,) he will be joining every play possible!!! ❤️ Thank you both SO much! We can not wait to see you again! Also, we love our shirts 😊

Fantastic experience for the children! The instructors perform miracles in one short week and only a few hours each day! My granddaughter has participated for 4 years and has loved every minute of it! Thank you to all of the talented teachers and organizers!

Prairie Fire Children's Theatre is a fun experience for your kids. It only requires a one week commitment. It is amazing that they can pull off a quality play in only one week. The plays are fun for the kids and over all the directors have been good. Casting is very random except for the female lead role. We have been in over 14 plays with Prairie Fire and the female role was always cast as a very blonde, fairly pretty girl. So the same child will get the lead role 3 to 4 plays in a row. Only in Snow White did a brunette get cast (which is not surprising for that play). So prepare your child as they get older if they are not bleach blonde. They will not get the lead part. They will still have fun.
