All around a wonderful camp! The staff are outgoing, nice and helpful. My son just finished the camp at brainerd mn group 2 and he is already wanting to do it next year! His shot has improved so much in the last 4 days and it makes him want to keep working at it! Every day he came home with a new tap job on his stick until he found one that works well for him. He saw friends from hockey (it was at our home rink) and meet new friends! He is already looking forward to camp next year! We are on vacation for the camp in August or we would be there!

This summer, my 8-year-old son Charlie attended the Northerner Hockey Camp in Green Bay, and it exceeded every expectation we had. From the moment we walked into the rink on Day 1, the energy, professionalism, and passion from the coaching staff were obvious. Gaven Bickford and his crew ran a top-tier program from start to finish. Every day was packed with value — from high-tempo on-ice drills and structured off-ice training to classroom sessions that actually kept the kids engaged. There was even time carved out for team lunches, which gave the kids a chance to bond and reset before hitting the ice again. What impressed me most wasn’t just the organization and skill development — it was how much fun Charlie had. I honestly thought he’d be exhausted by the end of the week. Instead, he was begging me to let him stay forever. His exact words: “Can I do every single camp in Wisconsin next year?” As a parent, there’s nothing better than seeing your kid light up doing something they love — and this camp brought that out of him in a big way. If you’ve got a young hockey player in your life, I highly recommend checking out Northerner Hockey Camp — just be sure to register early. These camps fill up fast, and after seeing it firsthand, I completely understand why.

What an incredible camp! My 7 year old daughter participated in the camp this summer. She had an AMAZING experience. The coaches are fun and engaging. The camp does a great job of building hockey skills and doing team building activities to make sure all campers feel welcome and a part of the community during their week at camp. One thing I also really appreciated about this camp was there was a number of female coaches. Having a daughter in hockey, this is not something she experiences very often and it was a really special moment for her. I would recommend this to any of my friends or other hockey families!

Northern Hockey camp in Brainerd was a great experience for my son and his friend. Because it's not an overnight camp, cost are affordable. The coaching staff are very positive and encouraging. They pack in a full day of fun including two hours of ice. Kids come home tired and wake up ready to do it again the next day.

Our 8U had an amazing time at camp. It was his first year and he was nervous (we came from ND) but after the first 5 minutes he made friends, loved the coaches, and ended up enjoying the whole week! He made us promise to bring him every year. I saw awesome improvement in his skating - he skates smoother and gained a few new skills and fine tuned some existing skills on ice. Off ice he had a blast and even loved “hockey classroom.” He said the lunches were awesome and loved every coach he worked with. He fell asleep 2/4 days on the way back to the hotel (the kid never naps!). We stayed in Brainerd and there was plenty to do and places to eat. We loved that we still had evening time to spend time enjoying Brainerd with our guy as well. Well run camp by great people, great communication, great mix of summer fun while also improving hockey skills and skating and encouraging a love for the game. We’re so excited for next year! I’d also like to note for parents of younger kiddos that it was made very much approachable and doable for our guy who just turned 7. The kids and coaches were all great, helpful, and he made lots of friends. We popped by before both ice times to help him get ready (there was staff to help, this was our personal choice because he’s so little yet) and even his ability to get himself ready (aside from helmet, tape, lacing up skates) improved which he even verbalized to us he was proud of.
