Playhouse in the Park is a community theatre in Murray whose annual two-week Kids Summer Camp, held in July, brings about 100 children together to stage a full production over ten days, ending with a weekend of shows. Campers (ages 6, having completed kindergarten, through 12) get hands-on experience in acting, singing, choreography, costume design and backstage roles, and are divided into two casts so more children get speaking parts.

We list only what the camp itself publishes, and programs change — dates, prices, ages and availability can all move after we check. Confirm the details on the camp’s own website and contact Playhouse In the Park directly before you register or pay. Last checked August 2026.

Excellent time, wonderful actors, great memories brought back.
I have been going to see plays here for years and have never been disappointed.
Such a great gift for our region, offering a wide variety of entertainment for all ages. Even opportunities for different levels of talent to participate. I love the small theater and feeling like you are a part of the production. Every seat is a great seat!
My visit to Playhouse in the Park was my first ever visit to the theater, and I loved it. The cast and crew did an amazing job bringing Jekyll and Hyde to life in this musical. R. Wayne Shields-Hogue (pictured with me below) did a phenomenal job playing Jekyll and Hyde. Mallory Walls, who played Lucy, had a voice that was so powerful it gave me goose bumps! This is definitely a stop you should make if you are visiting Murray and a show is scheduled.
