Piney Green Soccer Club (PGSC)

My step son has played at this club for 4 seasons now and he’s enjoyed every season as have we. This is nice quiet reliable place for you kids to play recreational soccer at an extremely cheap price. If you’re looking for something competitive then look elsewhere, they don’t offer anything except recreational soccer but there is another club in Onslow county that provides academy and classic soccer called Onslow classic soccer association. I’m still learning how soccer works here in the Carolina’s because it’s much different than what we experienced in SOCAL but from what I’ve learned, there is a group of rec clubs that feed into that Onslow classic soccer.

This season has raised serious concerns about coaching quality and the overall environment for players. Youth sports should be centered around development, encouragement, and learning the game — not confusion and negative experiences. My child was removed from a game and told to sit with parents for “not playing his position,” despite never being taught or assigned a position. That moment reflects a larger issue with lack of instruction and organization. Throughout the season, communication from the coach has frequently involved yelling and pressure rather than constructive guidance. There has been a noticeable lack of leadership and consistency, which impacts both player confidence and development. In addition, communication from league leadership, including Crystal, has come across as discouraging and at times intimidating toward parents raising concerns, rather than fostering a collaborative and supportive environment. Programs like this have the opportunity to positively shape young athletes, but that requires accountability, proper coaching, and a focus on the kids first. Unfortunately, that standard has not been met in our experience. I would encourage you to find a different soccer club as this one will not teach your kids to love this sport. It’s just waiting money.

As a parent of a player on the Piney Green Girls Crush, I have serious concerns about this association’s handling of player safety. My daughter suffered a medically confirmed concussion during a game due to repeated reckless and aggressive play by the opposing team. Despite immediate notification, the association failed to escalate her injury, mismanaged the situation, and retaliated against our coaches who were advocating for player safety. Leadership repeatedly prioritized bureaucracy and socializing over safety — the Field Marshal was more concerned with the concession stand than monitoring the field. Our concerns were ignored, leaving our children at risk and ultimately ending our season when our coaches were forced to step down. Parents, please be aware: this association does not consistently protect players, enforce safety, or support coaches who stand up for their teams. Safety and accountability should come first — here, they clearly do not.
