As a parent of an autistic child, choosing a school is honestly one of the scariest decisions you can make—especially when your child is nonverbal and can’t always tell you if something is wrong. That’s why I can say with my whole heart that Piece of Our Puzzle has been an absolute blessing for our family. I fully trust the team there to care for and teach my son, which is something I don’t say lightly. Since starting, he has made incredible progress. His communication—especially using his AAC device—has improved so much, and we’ve seen growth in so many of his skills. It’s been amazing to watch. One of the biggest signs for me is how happy he is—every single day he’s excited to go to school. He literally takes my hand and leads me straight to the door. As a parent, that feeling is everything. They also go on field trips that parents can join, which has been such a special experience for us. On top of that, they use an app where we get daily reports and pictures, so you truly never feel like you’re missing out on your child’s day. That level of communication and transparency means everything. Every single person there is kind, patient, and truly meant to do this work. You can feel how much they genuinely care about the kids. I couldn’t be happier with where he is, and I’m so grateful we found them. If you’re a parent who feels scared or unsure about placing your child, I completely understand—but this is a place you can trust.

When our son was ready to go to school, he had never been apart from me or his dad ever, not even for an hour. He started at piece of our puzzle and of course I was a nervous wreck…BUT it truly was the BEST decision we ever made. The staff/teachers are the most amazing, caring and supportive people ever not only for our son but for the parents as well. Our son has grown so much in just 3 months!! I love the communication between staff and parents so that we all can work together for the kids! They truly have such a passion for the kids and helping each child individually with each child’s different needs. My son absolutely loves his school and of course we do too!! When I first contacted the director, she was extremely friendly, supportive, and encouraging. She even motivated me to apply for Medicaid and explained how it could help us access additional services for our son. That guidance meant a lot to me as a parent. The ABA therapy support has been excellent. Our therapist is very cheerful, professional, and genuinely caring. She has gone above and beyond by observing our son in different environments — we even met at the mall and the park so she could guide us in real-life situations. She continuously provides hands-on parent training, which has been incredibly helpful. Previously, our son would run off frequently, but we have seen clear improvement with consistent strategies. Right now, the therapist is training me to use visuals properly, especially “First and Then” boards, which have been very important for his understanding and transitions. The parent training and visual strategies have made a noticeable difference at home. We feel truly grateful for the love, patience, and support our son, receives at this school. The teachers genuinely care, and we have seen meaningful progress in his communication and confidence. It gives us peace of mind knowing he is in such a nurturing environment. Since the school is in a residential area, I wish one day they could have a larger dedicated space of their own, which would make an already wonderful place even better for the children. We sincerely appreciate everything they do for our family.

After getting waitlisted many places I stumbled across Piece of our Puzzle. We enrolled our son immediately after touring the facility. From the beginning I felt this was the best place for my son. He had a new diagnosis of autism and my husband and I were figuring out how to navigate that. The staff at Piece of our Puzzle was so helpful and always there to answer every question. We have seen such growth in our son and although every day isn’t sunshine and rainbows, the staff is always there to help guide us with new techniques, coping skills or opinions on ways to overcome the difficult days. I can’t say enough good things about this place and highly recommend them.
