People's Light
Private
People's Light is one of Pennsylvania's largest professional nonprofit theatres, set on a seven-acre campus in Malvern with a resident company of artists. Its Summer Studios program offers non-audition single- and multi-week sessions for grades 2 and up, in which young artists build skills through theatre exercises and create original performances with classmates, mentored by experienced teaching artists working alongside the professional company. Teens in grade 8 through pre-college can audition for Performance Lab, a conservatory-style musical theatre track that trains with industry professionals toward a final showcase. Need-based scholarships are available for all programs.

Powered by GoogleAmazing show! User-friendly experience. Lots of volunteers saying hello and saying goodbye and letting us know where things were. One big downside and a warning: the theater is freezing! Very, very unpleasantly cold. We saw people going to their cars at intermission to get blankets. It was 90 degrees outside and must have been in the low 60s inside.
A top notch regional theater. Productions are typically well staged and acted, can be edgy and hard hitting,or silly (panto), take your pick. Facility is very accommodating.
Second time seeing a show here and both times were a real treat! Most recently we seen Little Shop of Horrors…the cast was amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed the show. The venue staff seemed to be having some seating double booking issues although it appeared they eventually got things sorted out. The venue is very cozy with comfortable seating, good sound system, good live musicians and very professional sets. Pick a show and go…it’s well worth it! Update March 2026... Another great performance "Twelfth Night"! - We remain very impressed with the quality of PL productions!
We saw an excellent production of Tweleth Night: great interpretation with very good acting. The theater is intimate and the acoustic are excellent. If buying tickets for handicap accessibility, be sure to reserve seats in the first row.
"A Christmas Carol" is amazing! Moved me to tears! Humor as well as sadness. Excellent acting, singing, and musicians! Actors effectively portrayed different characters. Creative use of a single set and plain, white sheets for different scenes. Scrooge flying was portrayed simply and effectively. The sound was crisp and clear, especially solo singing! However some of the dialogue was somewhat unclear in group scenes. Very comfortable seating. Nice building. Definitely recommended!
