Pelican State STARBASE is a Department of Defense–funded STEM program run through the Louisiana National Guard in Pineville, primarily serving fifth-grade students from Rapides, Grant, LaSalle, and Avoyelles parishes. The week-long, hands-on curriculum covers Newton's laws, robotics, nanotechnology, navigation, and computer-aided design of space stations and vehicles, with a focus on students underrepresented in STEM. It is a free enrichment program rather than a traditional open-enrollment camp.
