Peacemakers of Rocky Mount is a nonprofit serving the South Rocky Mount community with free youth programs, including summer offerings. These include a six-week half-day K-Ready Allstars kindergarten-prep camp, a six-week full-time Level Up enrichment program, and a seven-week full-time Freedom School focused on reading, self-esteem, STEM clubs, and field trips. Programs are free for participating families.

★★Tiffany PittI came to the school with a friend of mine. (I was thinking of enrolling my children). When we walked in the building it was a lot going on. It seems like the after school kids had no one watching them, the children that were outside! It’s a lot of parents at the school walking around like they are staff. It’s other people picking up food boxes. Which is great, but it’s A LOT going on in the school and I do not feel like it’s safe for so many people to walk in freely and go wherever. Other schools definitely do not do that. They keep guests in the main office and that’s that. Just rubbed me the wrong way.

★Tamara StephensonJesse is all talk, he wants to look good in the public eye and play a “white savior role.” But in reality and behind closed doors he doesn’t truly support what it means to protect, uplift, and move the majority black community forward. I would not have my children attend any program he is the head of. All of his black members on his board quit due to unjust practices leaving only ones he personally selected, and has relationships with. From the black people that have worked for him I have heard nothing good, white men continue to use their privilege in a harmful way. Parents I highly encourage you talk to the black employees about interacting and experiences with him before ever sending you scholar his way. He may not work directly with the students but he is the foundation of the program.
★love2327 NIf you want your children to be under racist, entitled, biased leadership then go here. They use the black community but don't know or even try to learn about our precious community. Run the other direction. It's a bunch of people that have a savior complex thinking we need them when in actuality these people need saving more than anyone else. Integrity is missing....
