I had a very disappointing experience at the YMCA in the Galleria on East 9th. From the moment I walked in, the staff member was rude and unprofessional. Instead of asking questions and making sure I was signing up for the correct membership, she gave me the wrong application and had me fill out a young adult application that didn’t even apply to my situation. Because of that mistake, I ended up paying for something I didn’t need. When the error was discovered, no one took accountability. Instead of trying to resolve the issue or offering an apology, I was told it was “too late” and was even called a liar. The staff immediately took their co worker’s side without listening to my concerns or treating me with basic respect. What makes this even worse is that after sharing my experience, I found out that multiple people have had similar complaints about the same employee. Another YMCA location even suggested that I switch locations because of the ongoing issues at this branch. Customer service matters, and nobody should be treated this way when they’re simply trying to sign up for a membership. A mistake was made, but the way it was handled was completely unacceptable. No accountability, no apology, and no effort to make things right. Overall, I’m extremely dissatisfied with my experience and would not recommend this location based on how I was treated. I have also reported this situation to the Better Business Bureau. I hope management takes these concerns seriously and works to improve the customer service at this location. I want to be fair and give credit where it’s due. The facility itself is actually very nice. The equipment is modern, the space is clean, and the overall environment is appealing. I was genuinely excited about joining and using the facility. My issue was never with the building or the equipment. Unfortunately, my experience with certain staff members completely changed how I felt about the location. The people representing a business set the tone for the entire experience, and that’s ultimately why I chose not to attend the location after becoming a member. I hope corporate recognizes that they have a great facility and works to ensure the customer service matches the quality of the space.

I am visiting from out of town, and was looking for a gym for the day as my primary gym is not a National chain yet. I visited on a Saturday. Jamal at the front desk answered the phone and let me know that day passes are 10.00. It is kind of confusing to enter the building on a Saturday as most doors are locked. However, when I finally got in Jamal and Deejay took great care of me. They had excellent customer service. The gym itself pretty much has everything you need. It seemed a bit cramped in size, but not overcrowded in people. I wish they had more lifting platforms and a yard for stretching as I definitely felt like I was hogging the platform. If I am ever in Cleveland again, I would return to this location to workout.

Nice equipment and lots of free weights and machines, hot tub and steam room a nice plus. Highly convenient and staff always welcoming. I come by the Y several times a week and always enjoy a good work out or hot recovery. I would certainly recommend !!!
