Powered by GoogleI watch this live stream daily from the UK. I wish that the experience the children have here was as positive as Paragon. The patience and understanding while keeping their motivation high is incredible. Matt is an awesome coach who literally corrects challenges and motivates these children in a truly dedicated way. The pride he has in their achievements is clear to see. I watched him encourage a young lad to overcome his fear of jumping off a high surface which took over 30 minutes and the patience of a Saint. But the praise of the lad when he did it demonstrated the skills of an outstanding coach.
I’m extremely disappointed with our experience and will be unenrolling my 3-year-old from this class. When we arrived, the coaches were two teenage girls who never introduced themselves to me or even asked my child what her name was. For people that would be coaching her, that immediately felt unwelcoming and unprofessional. Once the class began, my child — who is only three and completely new to gymnastics — naturally became excited and a little distracted by everything going on in the gym. Instead of showing patience or helping guide her, the coaches looked visibly annoyed. They were rolling their eyes and appeared frustrated with her, which was honestly upsetting to watch as a parent. At one point, when one of the coaches actually took a few minutes to show her what to do, my child mimicked and followed along. That showed me that with proper instruction and patience she is perfectly capable of participating. Unfortunately, the coaches did not seem to have the patience, experience, or attitude needed to work with toddlers who are new to an activity. I’ve seen my child in swimming lessons with instructors who truly understand how to work with young children, and the difference is night and day. When she’s with someone patient, encouraging, and skilled with kids, she responds very well. On top of that, the class was supposed to last an hour. Everything online listed the time as 10:40–11:40, but the class ended after only 20 minutes. I drove all the way from Fort Riley and paid for a full hour, only for my child to be there for a fraction of that time. Also, at the end of class the coach who had clearly been angry with my daughter handed out lollipops to all of the other children — except for my child. That was incredibly rude and unnecessary. Overall, the experience was unwelcoming, unprofessional, and upsetting. The coaches came across as rude, impatient, and uninterested in actually teaching young children. Because of this experience, we will not be returning.
We recently hosted our kids’ 4th and 6th birthday party at Paragon Performance, and it was absolutely fantastic. The kids had the best time running, climbing, and getting all their energy out in the gym. It was the perfect setup for this age — safe, engaging, and wide open for fun. The party room ended up being used very little (because the kids never wanted to leave the gym!), but it was perfect for quickly slinging pizza and cake into hungry little mouths before they ran back out to play. One of the best parts? The environment. The usual parent playground stress just didn’t exist. It felt relaxed, organized, and genuinely enjoyable for everyone — kids and adults alike. Coach Matt was incredibly easy to work with from start to finish. You can truly tell he loves what he does and takes pride in bringing joy to the community. That kind of leadership sets the tone for the whole experience. Five stars. We will absolutely be back!
Great, fun place to let the kids get tons of energy out
This gym has had its ups and downs like any establishment, but I’d like to share the main reason we have stayed here for 4 years of competition cheer. My daughter started her first year the month she turned 6. She had very little confidence and was so shy that she struggled in social situations. One night she was having issues with her shoes (moderate sensory issues with clothes). By the time I was able to get them on comfortably, practice had already been going on for 10 minutes. At that point, she was so upset because “everyone would look at her and be mad at her for being late” that she just hid behind me and cried for the first hour of practice despite attempts both the coach and I made to get her to join the team. We stayed, not to make her feel bad, but because she needed to learn that being a member of a team means you have to show up for them even when you don’t want to. They all had an important place. With 30 minutes left of practice, Coach Matt asked me if he could come get her and I agreed. He came over (with my permission and with kindness), picked her up, and took her to the mat. He called the whole team over to sit in a circle. He spent the last half hour of practice teaching the kids (ages 6-8) about the importance of lifting up their teammates when they’re having a hard time instead of being mad or unkind that the teammate is not doing what they should be. It literally changed my daughter’s life. That was the day her confidence started to really build and she came to understand the selflessness involved in being a team member. She is 9 now, has so much more confidence, and has learned and embraced the importance of teamwork, hard work, and empathy. So I recommend this gym for the positivity we have experienced. It’s a place where your kids can be themselves and be embraced for it. The coaches she’s had over the years are people we will remember and appreciate forever. The pictures are from their competition in OKC yesterday where they had their best performance to date.
