Absolutely would not recommend for gymnastics. Paid for beginner gymnastics and my child was taught NOTHING. I, along with a family member who is more familiar with the ins and outs of gymnastics and is a very integral part of the Oxford community, addressed the staff for inattentiveness that was blatantly evident the FIRST day. The adult instructor proceeded to pass my daughter off to a teenage staff member the next and all subsequent days my daughter attended class. I continued to watch as my daughter proceeded to literally entertain herself on the equipment while all instructors actively worked with the other children. I only let my daughter finish the program because she was excited to be around other children, she loves gymnastics, and the money was already spent…. But as a mother, it was quite infuriating to watch in silence so that I didn’t tarnish the experience of my child engaging in an extracurricular activity she’s takes interest and possesses great potential in. 0/10 would not recommend, and my daughter will never be enrolled in recreational gymnastics offered through OPC. It is very disheartening that other parents, grandparents, and even my 8 year old can clearly see and VERBALIZE that nothing is being learned and there is discrimination towards particular students. The purpose of beginner gymnastics is to LEARN. My child literally could have rolled and jumped on the trampoline for free at home! As a first timer, it makes me very apprehensive of enrolling my child in ANY recreational programs offered for kids through OPC in the future.

Went today at 3:45 to walk the track because it was so hot outside. The gym below was packed from corner to corner with kids, no observable organization or supervision. I’m sure there was supervision, but how do you identify them. They just blend in. At 4:00 most of the kids left and there was a manageable group left. A policeman showed up shortly. He was probably there because of the scuffle before 4:00. That many children in that space without identifiable supervision and organization is an incident waiting to happen, and it is an incident that can prevented.

They do phenomenal at the county sports. Best I’ve ever seen.

They seem to make everything about money in Oxford and take from the people of color and build for whites. Things like the basketball gym was turned to tennis and across town has been nothing but tennis golf softball soccer things that whites seem to be more interested in instead of all. You can't even play on the fields unless your on doing a team activitie. So what is everyone else supposed to do for fun if we are not interested in those sports. All the money being made by this city more can be done for all.
