Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center
Private
Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center, operated by Columbus State University along the Chattahoochee River, runs hands-on nature and science day camps for children. Campers explore wetland ecosystems, trails and live reptile, amphibian and fish exhibits through themed weekly sessions (e.g., a Harry Potter-inspired 'Frogwarts' week for ages 7-11 running 9am-4pm). The center sits in a hardwood wetland with a pollinator garden, bee hives and a Discovery Forest.

Powered by GoogleThis place was AMAZING!! We brought our children here to explore while we were camping in the area, and they loved it! I wish we had time to have explored the trails, but the animal enclosures, and specimen displays were so neat. The facility is very kid friendly with stools for kits to climb on to better view the animals. There is a large dog park next door, so if you’re camping with your four-legged friends, they have a place to get out and play!! It really is a beautiful learning center and I am so happy we visited.
The nature trails were so peaceful! We saw so many birds and beautiful trees on the bird trail. The pond was gorgeous with so much wildlife including birds, turtles, and gators. Great way to get out in nature with the river walk as another trail option. The learning center was filled with exhibits and has clean restrooms.
What a great find! While staying at Fort Moore, we found this great place to explore, Geo-cache, take Cooper on an outing, and visit the educational environmental center. This is a fantastic space to bring children of all ages.
The Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center is a hidden gem! I’ve tried to visit the center before but have only been able to view the exterior of the facility. I finally made it to Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center during regular operating hours and was blown away at what I had been missing. There are multiple rooms with live exhibits, activity rooms, and an auditorium for workshops. They recently had a workshop on bees, which matching the hives they maintain on the grounds on the outside for viewing. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming that I will be returning many times in the future. If you have found this review helpful, like and share the review. Thanks and have a great day!
Had a blast today! Went to a birthday party and it was awesome. My girls had a blast. Def will be back to bring my son as well at some point. Located across from the infantry museum on Lumpkin road. Really cool place to check out. The kids got to sit on stage in the auditorium for a special show for the party and got to see reptiles and learn some cool info!
