Outlaw Ranch in Custer is a Lutheran overnight youth camp and retreat center (Lutherans Outdoors in South Dakota) set among granite outcroppings in the southern Black Hills. Residential summer sessions for campers in 5th grade and up feature trail rides, hiking, canoeing, arts & crafts, games, ranch chores and campouts, plus horse rides for ages 9 and older and a dedicated week for LGBTQIA+ youth and allies.

I did it myself a couple of times and I really enjoyed it. I'm still friends with the People I met in the program. You get to do many Outdoor activities. Like Hiking, Paddle-boarding, Mountain Biking etc.. The best thing about this Program are the people you meet. So what are you waiting for?! Your Next friend may be waiting for you!!

★★★★Oscar ShepardIt's a great camp, however it does have it's problems. They have a 2 minute shower rule, which despite what it sounds like it's not only 2 minutes for your full shower but only 2 minutes of water, and for the adventures campers we have to use the same paper bag for our lunches all week, and with the rigorous activity and movement and moisture in the cooler is bound to rip. You'd think they could afford more paper bags or at least give us the option of bring out own lunch boxes. Added to the paper bags adventures had the same thing for lunch almost everyday which gets tiring, and after a long hike no one wants a warm soggy ham sandwich with no sauce, or after a day on the lake a chunk of trail bread and some hot cream cheese. There's also the issue of the older groups being treated like little kids or in full camp activities the councilors always letting the younger kids win never giving the older groups a chance, yet expecting us to act like we're being treated fairly for the sake of the kids when we're still paying to be there like all the other campers. They have amazing food with pretty decent portions, and the beds are comfy enough. Their medical team is caring and they always have aloe or treatment for poison ivy or bug bites. And are surprisingly queer friendly It's worth going at least once, but if you're not up for goofy camp songs, being sweety, and smelling the horses it's not for you
