The Otsego Sailing Club has run a sailing school on Otsego Lake in Cooperstown since 1965, and its youth courses are half-day sessions rather than a full-day camp. Beginning Opti (ages 6-10) meets Monday to Friday, 1:00-4:30pm, across five weekly sessions from late June through July, mixing sailing concepts and teamwork with off-water activities about the lake's ecosystem; Advanced Opti (ages 8-12) and the Laser-based Junior Sailing Program (ages 11-18) meet mornings, 9:00-11:30am. Older sailors can add Intro to Racing (ages 11-17) on weekends or a one-day Adventure Sailing trip on a 22-foot boat (ages 10-17), where students chart the course and file a float plan before several hours underway. Medical and photo release forms must be on file, and the club notes supervision may not be available before or after class.
