The Oseola McCarty Youth Development Center in Hattiesburg runs a free four-week summer camp for underprivileged youth from Pre-K through 12th grade. Campers work on core subjects like math and reading plus art and science, learn about urban farming in a community garden, and take part in service projects and field trips.
The practical details
We list only what the camp itself publishes, and programs change — dates, prices, ages and availability can all move after we check. Confirm the details on the camp’s own website and contact Oseola Mc Carty Youth directly before you register or pay. Last checked August 2026.

This is one of the best program that I've seen for youth. The Staff really cares for every child that's enrolled in this program. OUTSTANDING JOB STAFF!!
I help with the Community Garden and help serve the local elderly and disabled. I see the young people going in all morning for the all the great programs they offer. This is a hidden gem in our community
🏢 I picked up my children's Christmas stuff through the organization Toys-for-Tots here. I think this building was formerly a school because I saw several rooms and a sign that said "Keep the door closed at all times for each classroom." Anyhow, I recommend needy families take advantage of the nice gifts they have to offer. They really helped alot with my children's Christmas this year! I got clothes, shoes, toys, and learning tools. 🧦👗👚👕👖👠🥿👟🛍🎁🎄
