My daughter was enrolled in an art class here, and unfortunately our experience was very disappointing. For the entire class time, many of the kids were screaming, and there was little to no classroom management from the teacher. At no point did it feel like the environment was being guided or redirected. Both the teacher and program director seemed disengaged, and the class felt more like chaotic babysitting than an actual art lesson. My daughter shared that she couldn’t hear instructions or even understand the project due to the noise level. After four weeks, she came home with a simple marker-and-paint drawing—something she could have easily completed at home in under an hour, rather than over the course of a month at what is presented as an “art school.” When I raised concerns, the franchise owner stated that this level of noise and lack of structure is “normal” for this age group. If you’re okay with that environment, this may work for you—but in our experience, it was not conducive to learning and not worth the investment. I would not recommend this program if you’re looking for a structured, engaging art class where children can actually learn and create.

Had so much from learning from Jon and other students in the adult classes over the past couple years. He’s a fantastic teacher and gives students the space to explore and experiment, while giving detailed feedback to help us grow. He provides more hands on direction and substantive guidance than the average teacher because of his background as an artist. Many of the adult students have also been in art shows and competitions with the work they did in class. If you’re looking for adult classes with a fun and welcoming instructor and group of students, you’re at the right place! Only stopped going because I moved away, otherwise I would’ve continued forever!

My 7yo granddaughter's passion is Art. She is attending One River's Storybook Art Camp this week, and is having a great experience. She can't wait to re-tell the daily story, tell me about the Art games, and describe in great detail the process involved in creating their project! She loves her instructor, Amelia, and all the counselors! I can't wait until tomorrow, for the big Unveiling! This is a True Art School, we will be back!

We've had a great experience with the in-person camps and the virtual camps. We've also had a great experience with the in-person portfolio classes. The teachers and staff are very good at communicating. They are also very good at creating a diverse and inclusive community. The teachers have encouraged my child to feel safe taking risks artistically and to push themselves outside of their comfort zone. I highly recommend One River School of Art and its in-person and virtual camps and classes.
