I love this theater with a passion! I have been involved with the program since September and it has been such an amazing experience with all of the staff and students. My first class I took was an improv class and the teachers were incredible people and so passionate about their craft, including the students. They work well with new comers -whether that be new to acting all together or new to the theater- and help kids get out of their shell. At the end, we performed a few pieces and did some improv games, lots of the games we did also had to with the audience as well! The second class I took was an intro the theater class and it was incredible. Most of the students there were new to theater but we all almost immediately clicked and the teacher was incredibly talented and worked very well with each student. I performed Tomorrow from Annie - a classic - and each student got to perform their own solo songs and performed a dance. After that, I joined Newsies Jr. which has been such an amazing experience. I got casted as my favorite Newsie (Spot) along with 2 ensembles (newsie and Officer), the casting for this show is incredible and fair, everyone has a chance to shine in this show, and that’s why I love it so much. Shout out to our choreographer for being so patient, kind and funny during rehearsal. She’s a blessing in the community, including our music teacher for getting us pumped up and being so enthusiastic and energetic throughout this season. Hoping to work with these lovely ladies again!!! If anyone has ever wanted to join a theater who supports every student at every level, this is the one for you!

Visited Omaha Community Playhouse to watch the Disaster musical, and we really enjoyed it! The show was funny, and the music was entertaining. The only minor issue was that the microphone could have been a bit louder compared to the background music. It was a full house on a Saturday night, and the seats were comfortable. Parking is free, which is a nice bonus. Staff were friendly and helpful, and overall it was a great experience. We would definitely come back to watch more shows in the future!

I attended August Wilson’s The Piano Lesson and had a very pleasant experience. Parking was adequate, and the theater itself was nice and well organized. Supporting the arts is important, and this venue consistently hosts quality productions, making it a place I’d gladly return to for future shows.

Went to the opening night of The Piano Lesson. One of the actors wasn’t off book and actually carrying a script around throughout the show. Obviously as a result of needing to understudy for 6 roles. Actors were tripping over lines all show, often stepping over each other and jumping ahead, then trying to backup. Many points throughout the show, actors were left in the dark, due to a lack of lighting. There was also a baby in the audience being disruptive. Not once was anything done about this.

My first time at the OCP. Went to see A Christmas Carol on the 19th and it was amazing! Staff and actors all so kind and welcoming. The building was decorated beautifully. Performance was flawless. Had an a amazing time. Seats were comfortable, spacious, and it is easy to get to the balcony. Great view of the stage and sound quality was spot on, not too loud or too low. Lighting was soft and inviting. Would definitely recommend coming and seeing a show here, and I’ll be going again.
