Powered by GoogleWe throughly enjoyed our swamp tour with Nick Haag! He is extremely knowledgeable about the fauna and flora, and he’s entertaining (We could tell he loves his “job”.). His pace of discussion is right on—talkative, but also gives you time to quietly take it in. What a beautiful place to hang out…with alligators literally everywhere, neat looking, moss-covered trees, and birds. We will do it again when we’re in the area!
On 3/22/26 we took the Noon boat tour out of the Folkston entrance. Beautiful day, blue skies and temps in the 80s. What happened over the next 90 minutes was an amazing tour with Ranger Nick though the back country swamps. We saw an amazing cadre of alligators of al shapes and sizes interspersed with herons, egrets, turtles, ibis, etc. All this while being engaged with the most informative and entertaining tour guide of all time - Ranger Nick. He kept us riveted with his barrage of information and personal anecdotes about his time spent in the swamp. This was a great trip and one I would highly recommend to all. Be sure to ask for Nick as your tour guide and you won't regret it.
Three of us came to the Okefenokee Swamp and took the 90 min. boat ride. Ben was an exceptional guide, answering a million questions and sharing so much knowledge about the area. Truly exceptional experience. After the boat tour, we rented kayaks and paddled through the canals - again, this was an extraordinary experience, after we really settled in and trusted that all those alligators swimming around us or basking in the sun would leave us alone! Highly recommended.
My husband & I had the best day exploring the Okefenokee Swamp! We did a morning boat tour with Nick as our tour guide. He was extremely knowledgeable, provided great information, and shared his joy of the swamp! The boat ride allowed us to receive a wonderful overview of the swamp before we rented a canoe for the day. The Okefenokee Adventures team were all easy to communicate with and provided great recommendations of the trails to paddle & parts of the swamp to see. Evelyn added notes and markers to our map to help identify parts of the swamp we intended to explore. The rates for the boat tour & rentals were reasonable and easily accessed. After we returned our canoe, we enjoyed walking additional trails in the refuge and noted how well cared for the property is throughout the refuge. We hope to visit again soon!
Gators galore! We rented 2 single kayaks for a full day last month, and we had an amazing experience. The staff was kind and helpful in giving us maps and letting us know where water levels were too low, and they set up the kayaks on shore for you with your paddle and life vest available and waiting. We had fun scooting around on the water for the day and saw at least 60 gators, 30 turtles, and numerous beautiful birds. The wildlife viewing is fantastic - be sure to rent or book a tour to see for yourself!
