NXGA (Nexus of Guardian Art) is a martial arts and movement academy at 523 Sower Drive in Bayfield teaching Guardian Art, a Native American ancestral fighting art rooted in the original game of lacrosse. Classes mix parkour, mixed martial arts, acrobatics and self-defense, with typical sessions covering self-defense moves, climbing, striking, grappling and spirit running, offered in person and virtually for ages 3 through adult. The academy bought a property near Forest Lakes to host summer camps, and its nonprofit arm Guardian Saga runs camps and training programs that draw Indigenous, rural and underprivileged youth from across North America. Camp dates, daily hours and camp-specific ages are not stated.

My niece and nephew have been participating in classes here for almost a year. The instruction is excellent. I was able to watch them when I was in town visiting. This Is a great studio. The benefits of these classes are numerous… Physical fitness, dedication, self protection, focus, determination, self esteem and more. Highly recommend.

Guardian Art has been a wonderful program for my son. His confidence has soared and he is learning productive ways to calm and focus his energy. The classes are dynamic, well organized, and engaging. The instructors are incredibly patient and great at motivating the athletes. Thank you, Guardian Art!

My grandson loves participating in Guardian Art. I live out of state and am happy to be able to watch him weekly via Facebook livestream. I have been able to witness his growth with his concentration, self esteem, mindfulness, and skill set. Maria, Great Owl, and their team have worked relentlessly to provide this amazing service to the youth of Bayfield. I am so very proud.

My four year old couldn’t be happier. She’s found her passion here at Guardian Arts. She’s learning new skills and techniques. Her body is getting stronger but most importantly she’s learning how mentally strong she is. She’s learning to harness her power and utilize her energy in many different situations. The commanders are excellent with kids and the owners are very knowledgeable, patient. They are also always at least one owner on the building. They continue to grow my confidence in their concepts and teachings. Thank you, NXGA for being an awesome part of our community!

As a student and shadow at Guardian Art, I have to say the only way to describe the Guardian Art experience is to experience it firsthand, it's just a very well-rounded art with all the different skills you learn in class. As well as not just training physically but also mentally. It's not just about having a strong body but a strong mind as well. Also, there are a lot of awesome camps, ceremonies and activities you can do through Guardian Art. Additionally, the people there are like family in and out of Guardian Art, it's not like a sport, it's more like a lifestyle. I would recommend this to anyone I know. 10/10 Nexian-Prime
