Now You're Cooking is a culinary studio in Chesapeake, owned by sisters Debra and Dedra Blount, that runs themed weekly cooking camps for kids through the summer - recent weeks included Harry Potter, Global Cuisine, Disney, Baking, Farm to Table and Cook Like a TV Star. Young chefs learn kitchen safety and technique, cook recipes each day and take creations home; separate teen camp sections run some weeks. Kid sessions begin at 9 a.m. and teen sessions at noon, and the studio also teaches Superhero Kitchen classes for kids and teens with special needs.

I've hosted many birthday parties for my kids and this is by far my favorite. The staff goes above to make sure it's a successful party and the parents get to enjoy some conversation while the kids are cooking. All the kids said how much they enjoyed themselves but also so did the parents. We all raved how we could just sit and relax and not worry about what's next or running after your little one. If you're thinking of having a birthday party here, do it. You won't have any regrets about it.
