Besides the fantastic food and beautiful landscape, the effort that leadership puts in to make sure the kids have not only a great summer, but one that challenges them and turns them into a better person, is worth every penny.

Having continuously improved since the mid-1940s, NSC has been an amazing place for boys to learn, grow, play and make life-long friendships. The chance to do this outdoors, unplugged and in the first-person is part of life that is disappearing from lives of modern youth. Many of my basic skills in camping, backpacking, rock climbing, wilderness survival, sailing/canoeing, fishing, tennis, photography and rocketry came from my 8-week summers at North Star. High-quality staff and counselors made a big difference. The quality of the nature, the trips we took to the Quetico Provincial Park, Porcupine Mountains, Brul River, and Taylor Falls, etc., and the musicals we performed were unforgettable experiences. I can't really compare it to its true peers because I didn't try them, or frankly want to, after my first summer at NSC.
