I am beyond disappointed with my experience at the North Canton YMCA. As a mother, I enrolled my 5-year-old son in swim lessons because I wanted him to learn to swim in a safe, supportive, and encouraging environment. Instead, what I witnessed during his lesson left me shocked and heartbroken. The swim lesson was stopped before it was completed because I was concerned about what I believed was the swim instructor's aggressive treatment of my son. At that point, both the YMCA director and I stepped in to confront the instructor about the way she had handled my child. It was only after being confronted about her actions that the instructor claimed my son had bitten her. I was watching the lesson from above the entire time and did not see my son bite her. I asked that the YMCA review the security camera footage so the situation could be fairly evaluated, but I felt my concerns were never properly investigated. Instead of reviewing the footage and determining what actually happened, the YMCA dismissed my 5-year-old son from swim activities and recommended that he attend another location. As a parent, it was heartbreaking to see my child excluded instead of receiving the patience, kindness, and support that young children deserve while learning to swim. I expected accountability, transparency, and a fair investigation into my concerns. Instead, I left feeling unheard and deeply disappointed. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend the North Canton YMCA. Parents deserve to know that concerns about the treatment of their children should be taken seriously, investigated thoroughly, and handled with fairness and professionalism.

This place is wonderful. The staff are very helpful and nice, they have so much to help you stay active, has a pool to do laps and casual swim, a dry and a steam sauna, you can shower l, no need to bring soap they provide it, there's also a lounge area with air hockey, a pool table, fooseball. Vending machines if you need a drink or snacks, there are games with the treadmills and bikes that are interactive with your workout that make things interesting. If you dont bring your own towel for swimming its 1 dollar, you need to bring cash for that, there's also the option of towel service for 7 dollars a month.

Today my disabled sister in law & cousin took my 4 year old & her 2 year old swimming during the day at the ymca where they’ve had memberships for literal decades. However, today, two of the pool attendants proceeded to harass my family while they swam repeatedly commenting on the two year old, who never ran off or was left unattended. The lifeguard TOLD my family several times “you need to give him water”, because like all of the kids I know, he kept drinking the pool water. Then when he was jumping into KIDS POOL they made 5+ comments every time the kid jumped into the pool, saying the two year old needed to LEAD WITH HIS FEET… yes, a two year old. Not sure how else he could have led, but the harassment went on for hours until they proceeded to turn the fans on to chase them out of the pool. Laughing and saying “the kids don’t seem to mind”… My four year old daughter who was trying to enjoy a local amenity that our family has paid for for the entire family for decades… now has walking pneumonia- a mere 12 hours later after not having any signs or symptoms of an illness. I’m not sure why they were targeting a disabled person and 2 year old, but whoever the two life guards were on 2/17/26- that harassed my daughters disabled aunt and her cousins grandmother the entire duration of their swim, that mean girl behavior brings immediate bad karma, especially when you decide to target some of the sweetest, most polite, loving, helpful, and giving people in your area. Oh yeah and the front desk, proceeded to ask my cousin if her two year old grandson had a membership… matter a fact- he does, since his grandmother has paid for one for her immediate family; all her grandkids, and cousins for DECADES. It’s a shame that these are the best new hires north canton could come up with. The snotty, mean girl, high school bullying mindset isn’t something that anyone thinks is cool, or acceptable in 2026. Whatever problems your having in your personal life shouldn’t be taken out on random strangers who were merely doing acts of kindness for their family. Me. My daughter, and the actual children that they spent the effort to entertain while their mothers work jobs servicing the community with INTEGRITY. I will be reaching out to the management of the local north canton YMCA, as well as the district/corporate managers until these employees are terminated. There is zero reason my innocent four year old should have pneumonia right now and I will make it my mission to ensure the removal of these unethical adult bullies that way something positive will come from all of the negativity they projected onto my family, and the trickle down effect their poor and impulsive actions had on my 4 year old.

Love this facility. Clean and well maintained and wide variety of classes. Only complaint is it's always hot like a sauna every time I go in. Why they have heaters in front of the cardio equipment upstairs is beyond me. Hot air blowing on you while you're doing cardio is miserable. Heat rises so heaters are unnecessary upstairs.

This is a very nice YMCA. However, when I walked in, a few areas were closed due to a flood including the pool, spa and racquetball courts. Very bummed. Hope it reopens soon and I will come back. Staff is nice. But since I’m from Medina County and not Stark, I had to tell them I’m visiting from another county. Took a lot more time than expected. Heads up, if any of you guys go to a YMCA that isn’t your local YMCA, unfortunately you have to tell the front desk that you are visiting another YMCA from a different county. They have a different sign in screen on their computers for that. More positive things about this YMCA, the locker rooms and showers are extremely clean and huge. Changing rooms are clean and organized. The whole facility is well kept. Gymnasium is huge, restrooms are clean. They also have a game room which is huge and very fun. They also have a variety of both men and boys locker rooms which means, men’s locker rooms are for 18 years or older and the boys locker rooms would be for any boy under the age of 18. That’s cool. I just want to see the pool, spa, and racquetball courts reopened soon
