Nature Connect runs outdoor day camps for ages 3 to 12 in the woods along a freshwater creek in Fairhope. Campers do fire making, foraging, fishing, shelter building, animal tracking, primitive skills and crafts, plus creek adventures and basic wilderness first aid. Powered by GoogleWe are so grateful for what this school has given our children. We cherish the connection with nature and think nature is of great importance for good health and learning. We also agree with no sugar in school. The teachers are amazing and really love our children. The community Nature Connect brings together is wonderful and tends to be very international which is fun since we ourselves are from Sweden.
Nature Connect has served as my home for 4+ years in the summers and winters as I worked as a Counselor for a number of camps over these years. Other staff, counselors, and director Brinkley Hutchings have always been welcoming, kind, and flexible with anything you bring to the table. I've seen almost nothing but kindness and playfulness from my fellow staff to the children in our care, making safety our number one priority followed by learning and fun. Our camps seem to be constantly evolving to fit the needs and interest of campers. Being outdoors at exploring with programs and camps at Nature Connect has visibly been so important to families. I'm positive camps and school programs will continue to encourage children to play, adventure, get dirty, and thoroughly enjoy the outdoors.
Nature Connect has been wonderful for my son. This program is the best part of his school week! The community of teachers, students, and parents are amazing! I couldn’t be happier with our choice and I grateful for the opportunity for him to attend every week!
We were so delighted to find Nature Connect- a fun, hands-on, exploratory way to encourage our kids to learn about and appreciate nature! The teachers facilate learning in an organic way that guides children in discovery through questions and active play. Both my son and daughter have participated in the Forest Friends Program and the summer camps. In a time when many kids never play beyond the confines of their manicured yard, Nature Connect provides the opportunity to catch fish and tadpoles, kayak, swim in a creek, make mudpies, learn about the uses of plants and interact with animals in their natural habitat. Nature Connect is fun, builds confidence, and an appreciation of our natural world. My kids love it and we are so grateful for the experiences, memories and joy it brings them!
What a wonderful experience for my children. Exploring and learning about the natural environment in our area is the main focus, all while not even realizing they were learning. We now know what types of flowers are edible, how to throw a cast net, what types of fish we caught, etc. I would highly recommend Nature Connect to any age group. And I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a “moms” camp!!
