NAS Oceana - Youth Center

This is from my personal view of Oceana cyp 1.(staff) A lot of staff here are very friendly some aren't most staff here are rude and sarcastic. As a youth that went here I can understand that some people don't like waking up early and that might ruin their day a bit but taking it out on a kids isn't a way to deal with it. And sometimes I feel that kids that have had problems a lot are not being dealt with correctly. Just the other day a staff told me "you should have told a councler and we would deal with it" but I have before and it hasn't helped the problem. 2.(rooms) there are a lot of rooms that youth can pick from but some rooms aren't for certain youth and transitions can be difficult but sometimes other youth are held accountable. Most times we are frozen (being frozen is when they are taking ratio to see if the number matches their system) but being frozen for 2 hours has no excuse especially when not taking ratio. Other youth will get restless, upset and angry but they will also take it out on things I understand that ratio is something that takes time but I feel there is no communication between counslers sometimes. 3.(field trips) I feel that field trips are fun I mean who doesn't want to go on field trips. But most of the week is field trips and I feel that it might be stressful on some youth. Especially the ones that have issues with transitioning. Forcing youth to go on field trips to isn't good either. Knowing that wanting youth out of the center will help counslers with planning and what not. But forcing them to go on trips is another thing. 4.(pre school staff) I just like to congratulate preschool staff for what they go through Prek staff has been bit,hit, stabbed, kicked and many other things but don't have support from management?! and seeing that management has done nothing most of the time disappointed in that.
