Mt. Abram is an independently owned ski area in Greenwood, Maine, a few miles outside Bethel, where local children learn to ski and snowboard. Most lessons are taught on the West Side, the mountain's beginner area. A partner nonprofit, the Mt. Abram Ski Club, offers annual grants that help students join seasonal lesson programs. Through the Local Student Access Program, every student in the local school district, including private school and homeschooled students, can apply for a free winter season pass.
