Mountaintop Retreat is a nonprofit, nondenominational Christian camp founded in 1946 on 32 acres about 15 miles south of Montrose, at roughly 8,000 feet against the Uncompahgre National Forest. It runs youth summer camps alongside summer and winter retreats, church outings and family reunions. Camp days combine Bible teaching and Bible drills with a water slide, zip line and time outdoors in the surrounding mountains and mesas. The site is also rented to outside groups for their own camps and retreats.

★★★★★Steven PesterAttended the 10th Annual SDA Western Slope Camp meeting at this retreat. This facility is off the beaten path and is well taken care of by Director Kenny Stayed in one of the bunk rooms. It was very dark and quiet at night. I needed a fan to cool things down at night but could turn it off halfway thru the night. Bed was comfortable, bathrooms are clean. Meeting ‘barn’ is nice and chairs are comfy. It has an awesome PA system to be able to hear the speakers easily. Dining room is cozy. I had the opportunity to help cook in the kitchen and I love this kitchen to cook for a large group. Really enjoyed the whole experience here! I’ll be coming back next year!
