Family-owned traditional overnight (sleepaway) ranch camp near Susanville on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada, for boys and girls ages 7-17 (founded 1956). Small enrollment (about 120) with one- and two-week sessions June-July offering horseback riding, wakeboarding and lake sports, an 800-foot zip line and high-ropes course, archery, fencing, paintball, mountain biking, out-trips, and arts/drama, chosen daily by campers.

My daughter had a hard time the first year when we dropped her off but when we picked her up, she was so joyful, open, enthusiastic, and free that pick up day from camp when I got to hear all her stories quickly became my favorite day of the year. Anna and Sam, the directors have been incredibly supportive, engaged, available, and professional every year. I was a high maintenance parent and my daughter has strict dietary needs. They were highly attentive to safety and communication with me both before and during camp and I felt amazingly safe, knowing they were managing the situation with care. I know for a fact that it is rare and precious that a camp can give you this level of assurance and I am so grateful. They always have a nurse on staff and my daughter has always reported being them being wonderful, warm and helpful. Mountain Meadow Ranch is also gorgeous and the quintessential Camp experience with silly songs, capture the flag, every activity imaginable, and my daughter’s favorite, skits in front of the campfire. My daughter has aged out and I feel so sad knowing that she won’t have this beautiful experience next summer. I highly highly recommend you give you and your child this magical experience. It is completely and 110% worth the price.

Every summer she has an amazing time, makes great friends, and tries new things like the high ropes course and camping under the stars. They offer so many activities... there is really something for everyone! As a parent, I was a bit apprehensive about sending her to camp for 2 weeks, but it turned out to be a really positive experience. I love that the kids are unplugged from all electronics and social media. The staff is super positive, inclusive, and caring. This past summer we used the camp shuttle from the Reno airport to camp and it was easy, organized and all-around fantastic! If you're considering sending your kid to camp then I highly recommend MMR.

The stories they tell us in the car drive home are worth it alone - they don't stop talking for hours and as teenagers, that's quite the feat! The love the activities, the staff, the amazing counselors and especially the lasting friendships and memories that can only be made at camp. The counselors are exceptional—passionate, engaging, and genuinely invested in each camper's experience. The camp is family run and my kids feel like they are a part of that family the minute they step on property. I highly recommended for an amazing and enriching summer experience!
