Powered by GoogleHi, I’ve actually had a really good experience here. Staff has been responsive and helpful, and the instruction has been consistent and solid. It’s definitely a busy program, so I can see how delays might happen at times, but overall everything has been organized and worth it.
Took my evaluation lesson here TWO MONTHS AGO and have been trying to call and email to schedule lessons. No one is responding. When I finally got an answer on the phone after one month, I was told that my instructor didn’t fill out my evaluation form… I was told they’d get back to me, I have called a bunch since and still no response 1 month later. What a waste of time and money.
The Metropolitan Equestrian Center is a genuine, rustic gem located right inside Rock Creek Park. It offers a wonderful opportunity to see horses up close and is a unique resource for lessons and trail rides within the city. The staff is consistently friendly and clearly dedicated to the care of the horses. The facility itself feels a little older, reflecting its history in the park, but this adds to the charm and rustic atmosphere. The location provides easy access to beautiful wooded trails, making it a perfect escape for nature and animal lovers. Highly recommended for riding lessons or a scenic trail ride.
Rock Creek Park Horse Center is an oasis within the city. Deep in Rock Creek Park is a property full of stables and fields. There are 57 horses in the stable. Half are private, but the other half are used for the public. They offer riding lessons and on weekends they have pony rides for kids as young as 2.5 years old. If you're hiking by, you can enter the public stables to see the horses and ponies. You can't pet the horses, but the staff are so friendly and will give you the story of each horse. Once you see the horses, I recommend hiking through Rock Creek Park and visit the nearby Capitol Stones.
The closest I've been to a real live horse! As opposed to the carousel from back when (you can tell I'm old) also, not counting the horse on duty at the national mall. They were so knowledgeable about each horse, all the way to the point of if they are friendly or if they bite. It's not too far out so recommending this for kids outing or a very different kind of lunch date.
