I played in -- and loved -- this league as a kid, and my son has participated in MYFA for four years. Unfortunately, each passing year the league seemed to degrade further and my son is no longer interested in the game and we will be taking a break from football until we age-out of MYFA. Games against Linn Mar teams were particularly rough with the coaches (Doug -- a board member -- stood out particularly) often getting in shouting matches with opposing coaches and parents, and accusing the opposing team's kids of "playing dirty" even though we are talking about 8 and 9 year old children. I reached out to the MYFA board after one particularly egregious game against Doug's Linn Mar team where Doug showed a tremendous level of poor sportsmanship and the Board emailed me back basically saying "Doug volunteers his time for free so if you think you could do better, we are always looking for volunteers." The very next week, Doug got an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty from the refs for trying to go for it on 4th down when his team was up by ~4 touchdowns (which is against MYFA rules). Volunteering is great and I wish my job allowed me time to volunteer myself, but when you conduct yourself the way some of the leadership of MYFA conducts themselves, you're doing more harm than good and turning kids away from the sport. Coaching 8 and 9 year olds, you should be there for the kids, not for your own vanity. In short, if you participate in this league, be prepared to have to explain to your kids after at least 2 or 3 of the games that what they witnessed was poor sportsmanship and apologize on behalf of the adults who are supposed to be protecting these kids from this type of behavior.

This is a terrible league doesn’t care about there kids at all the refs are just random people that volunteer and they don’t and they will LITERALLY throw a flag and just come up with a ransoms excuse to why they throw the flag. My little brother was playing a game and they called holding on his team and he said he herd the refs say their was holding but they didn’t no who it was on. If you are looking for arguments, cops called, and to get thrown out of the game possibly then go to Myfa.

If you’re looking for DRAMA, fights and cops this where you’ll find all that on the fields of MYFA. Doug, one of the members is so incredibly rude to parents, kids and coaches. These refs are making kids cry. I highly advise to look elsewhere. This is a terrible organization that I’ve been in and out of for years. My family will never come back, they ruin football for kids and family. They let kids get hurt . No calls, no flags, even today Doug the board member got into a yelling match with two separate team coaches . THIS IS A JOKE parents. DONE WASTE $300

MYFA is truly a QUALITY organization with a focus on youth safety and coaching/participant code of conduct. All MYFA sponsored programs are strictly enforced. My son has grown so much as a person because of the MYFA programs and the positive environment they have cultivated. I am truly thankful, and will volunteer my time to be part of it and help it grow.

Great organization and the way it is ran. Number one thing is player safety always trying to improve. The coaches and organization in a whole is great. Couldn't ask for a better place to make sure kids get an opportunity to get signed up and play even if you dont have the money there focus is the kids. Keep up the great work MYFA.
