My experience with MYSA has been disappointing. Last year we joined MYSA and were disappointed in the coach we had. He would cancel practices because he decided to run for political office and towards the end of the season stopped attending games and practices completely. Parents stepped in and the kids were all great but I felt it was unfair on the kids that they didn’t get to experience a true soccer season with a coach who was dedicated to teaching them the sport and being there for the team. This season I enrolled my son again and requested to be in a different team, as I was unaware the last coach was no longer in the league. Unfortunately, our new coach now has a personal conflict with practices and has changed the practice schedule a couple weeks in, to a day that doesn’t work for our family. While I understand that coaches work on a volunteer basis, and I appreciate them for doing so, the fault here is with the MYSA for not ensuring that all teams are given the same opportunity to have a fun and productive season. I don’t know why they don’t pay their coaches to provide incentive for them to stay or work on a structured basis, but having coaches leave or change schedules isn’t professional or representative of how any organization should run. Our kids don’t get to play for free, there is a service we are paying for and MYSA doesn’t hold themselves accountable to provide their end of the contract. They refuse to provide any type of resolution that would allow my son to switch teams, or get a credit or refund for next season. Their employee Carol is extremely rude and unprofessional and did not even pretend to care or show any empathy. I do not recommend this association, they do not care about the kids and are only out to take your money.

So disappointed. Coach only plays 3 out of 9 kids. These kids are young and need to be encouraged not go home feeling they aren't good enough to play. Shame on you

So, let me start by saying that my daughter has been in MYSA for several years, and has benefited greatly from her experience at the games, her teammates, the parent comradery, and her coaches. My poor review does not mean that we have certainly made the best of this. My review is about the back end or business end of the organization. When it comes down to it, if they had a consistent & updated online presence and ERP software, im sure that many of the parents frustrations would be solved. Applications, payments, calendaring, office hours, HR issues, & communication seems to be the major frustration with the parents on the sidelines of these games every Saturday. All of this can easily be fixed with the right champion within the organization to make it happen.
