Mariposa Montessori is a Bay Area Montessori preschool with a Los Gatos location that runs a themed summer camp for toddler and primary (preschool-age) children from mid-June through July. Weekly themes include ocean and beach, space, zoology, and building/sculpture, with half-day (9 a.m.-1:30 p.m.) and full-day (to 5 p.m.) options. The program serves early-childhood ages rather than school-age campers.

Powered by GoogleOur daughters have been attending Mariposa for several months, and it has been fantastic. The staff is amazing, the children are thriving, and we're grateful to have such a wonderful facility in Los Gatos. I can't recommend Mariposa enough!
Our daughter started at Mariposa when she was just 18 months old, and the transition was incredibly smooth thanks to the care and warmth of the amazing teachers. While I won’t name everyone individually, each teacher we've encountered has been caring, patient, and truly exceptional. We began in the toddler class and later moved up to the primary class, and the growth we’ve seen in our daughter has been remarkable. She’s learned so much and gained so much confidence along the way. We’re genuinely grateful to have found Mariposa—it’s been such a wonderful part of our family’s journey. We truly can’t recommend it enough.
A Truly Special Place – Mariposa Montessori School When I was searching for a preschool for my son, I toured several schools in the area. Out of all of them, Mariposa Montessori stood out immediately—and for all the right reasons. What impressed me the most was the level of care the teachers provide. At Mariposa, the teachers are fully present with the children. Whether it’s teaching, playing, or comforting a child who’s upset, they are right there, fully engaged. Unlike other schools where teachers mostly observe from a distance, the staff at Mariposa are hands-on, warm, and responsive in every situation. The teachers here don’t just work with kids—they love what they do. It’s clear this isn’t just a job to them. Their passion and joy shine through in the way they interact with each child, creating an environment that is nurturing, respectful, and full of genuine connection. Another thing we truly appreciate is the culture among the children. There’s no sense of bullying or exclusion here—just loving and caring relationships. The kids are kind to one another, and you can feel a deep sense of mutual respect and belonging. Mariposa also fosters a close-knit community among parents. We’ve made meaningful connections with other families, and there’s a real sense of support and shared values. It’s not just a school—it’s a village. We feel incredibly fortunate to have found Mariposa and wholeheartedly recommend it to any parent looking for a preschool where children are not only safe and well-taught, but truly loved.
Our son started at Mariposa at 2 years of age and we've stayed all the way till kindergarten. We started studying covid and after having toured many schools in the area, Montessori and others, Mariposa had the best protocols ensuring the students were safe and having fun. Our experience at the school has been nothing but brilliant - the staff is kind, compassionate, and responsive. Since Montessori is inherently individual-focused, we've always found the instruction to meet the level of our child keeping him engaged, interested and challenged. The mixed age classrooms have allowed him to learn the important art of making friends - learn from older friends and now in kindergarten be a role model and leader himself. While touring many private and public elementary schools in the area, I have realized how well adjusted and prepared my child is for the first grade. Since it's a small school community, we've made some wonderful friends as well. I couldn't recommend it highly enough!
My daughter's attended Mariposa since they were both 2 years old. It was a great school, amazing teachers, and an overall wonderful experience. My daughter's learned so much from emotional-social skills to math and reading. My girls still miss their teachers and talk about Mariposa constantly and are even still friends with many of their old classmates even though they've gone on to other schools. All around 5* experience!! Highly recommend for any parents considering a preschool for their children.
