Maple Ridge Stables is a family-run riding stable at 8097 Sunshine Trl in Vanderbilt offering guided trail rides through the Mackinaw State Forest, along with horse riding summer camps where children learn horse care, riding technique and equestrian skills from instructors. Trail rides run one hour (about three miles on a shady, sandy wooded trail suited to families) or an hour and a half (about five miles with hillier terrain and the option to trot). Beautiful location, everyone working here was super nice. Very laid back. Though I wish more places offered a trail option specifically for those of us who are experienced riders, as it gets a little annoying with people who have never ridden before. However, that is not their fault, I get most people probably are not experienced riders, so there’s prob not a market for them to offer this as an option full time. Regardless, we would definitely ride here again.
