Manhattan Beach Summer Camp

Camp has two owners and it is a complete disaster. Business partners are clearly not happy with one another and it shows. One is a financial expert who knows nothing about how to run a day camp, while the other does a lot more to keep up the camp spirit. Second owner is one of the most reprehensible human beings I have ever dealt with. He is socially inept, zero manners, and no decency whatsoever. I have heard complaints about this particular owner from both campers and staff, and while I won't name names, this particular individual does NOT belong in a day camp environment. Once you take the camp spirit away from someone, you have totally ruined their entire summer. Berating both staff and campers is completely unacceptable.

Amazing camp… It was my daughter’s first year in camp and she loved it. Huge thank you to the staff for making sure that my daughter was always safe and happy. Can’t wait for next year!

Very unstructured evironment and inadequate staff to look after younger kids. My son got kicked out from camp for getting physical with kids as a way to defend himself because he was being constantly teased and bullied. While that is not acceptable the camp staff refused to take anything seriously that came to teasing or bullying. Apparently the camp is perfectly fine with tolerating emotional abuse because there no way to get hurt by that.

I worked as the photographer for the camp, but in order to do so my 3.5 year old daughter had to attend the camp. I went on all of the trips with the kids and got to see, first hand, how much they loved it. I also knew that my daughter liked the camp because she was always happy to go there every morning. I only now realized how much she enjoyed it when she, out of the blue, said that she wanted to go to camp instead of pre K.

My son really enjoyed the camp. He really loved everything especially trips and martial arts. We signed him up for private swim lessons and he actually learned how to swim. The fact that you can deal with the owners makes a huge difference compared to camps that are managed by big organizations with employees. We just signed up for the upcoming season and are looking forward to another amazing summer.
