Powered by GoogleMy outing with Maine Outdoor School was a wonderful experience, from start to finish. I learned so much about foraging in our beautiful local landscape from a very knowledgeable guide, and got to meet and connect with other folks in a very low-pressure setting (great for introverts like me and others). Thank you Maine Outdoor School!
What a wonderful way to foster community, I spent most of my adult life working with men as a firefighter in Bangor. While guys are ok and most were supportive, there is nothing like hanging out with a group of women. So different in the best way. Thanks to the crew that put this together and all the Women I had the privilege to fellowship with. Paddling was fun too! Maine Outdoor School, You Rock!
Maine Outdoor School provides wonderful opportunities for women, men and children to increase their skill level and comfort with outdoor activities. This canoe outing offered by WHRL as one of their OWL outings was very well organized. Hazel Stark is an absolute gem in terms of providing information but also making women feel at home whatever their skill level. I do not hesitate to recommend any program of MOS to anyone who inquires!
I have participated in multiple nature hikes with Hazel, typically through the WHRL Owl Outings. If you think you already know a lot about nature, Hazel and the staff are sure to amaze you with things you never knew. They encourage wonder and curiosity and alway make everyone (children and adults) feel valued and welcome.
I attended a group paddling excursion to the Orange River preserve with Hazel through OWL. It was wonderful exploring a new place to paddle. Hazel is a knowledgeable and experienced naturalist and outdoor guide, always cheerful and enthusiastic, and is a great coach for those learning new outdoor skills!
