Just got back from this camp with our youth and was kind of disappointed in it. We arrived Monday and our boys/girls were split up even though we were told we wouldn't be. The boys had to share a a cabin with 3 other churches. The cabin itself was not all that great and probably the worst place I've stayed at for a camp. The bathrooms had little to no privacy for showering. We were given out colors but the camp made no use of it whatsoever, so I have no idea what it even meant. The dinning situation was atrocious. I don't know how many campers were there but it was over crowded and you were lucky to even find a seat to sit down and eat. The food was one of the saving graces. There was literally no ice at any meal but breakfast. I'm not sure why but that can't happen at a camp in Texas in June. The services were good. The MC's were funny and got the kids into it. Band was great and speakers were too. I do know one thing, if my church goes here again, my kids and myself won't be attending.

First time went for my church retreat, it was amazing!! The place is really beautiful and lots of trails. I've captured so much of astrophotography during the night time. In the morning, I've been running for 2 days and got a chance to witness a nicest sunrise!! I would like to thank all the employees there, they're so nice and very professional. This camp is mostly used to rent out the space for people/organizations to bring their groups/people/events. The grounds and spaces are open based on needs for each group. Once a year, last week of June, Latham Springs hosts their own youth camp week. This is the one they put on using their own facilities and speakers/bands they choose. It’s called Rescue youth camp. Around 800 attendees. My family has attended for a handful of years as part of the staff working, and we do love Rescue Camp. As we travel to many camps, this one is well staffed and great people, which totally makes it a reason they have lots of repeat visits for people and churches. It is not the best accommodations of most places we attend/work. However, the campers/students seem to have fun and their price is reasonable. The food is typical cafeteria food cooked for a big crowd, but the campers seem to like it. We bring a lot of our own food, including coffee, because if they run out they are not able to make more and we usually eat last. If you are staying in the motel above the dining hall, there is no microwave and the shared fridge is tiny.

This week has truly been a blessing for not only are youth group but the leaders that went with them as well. To witness so many young lives touched by the word of God and the professions of faith is just amazing. The food is Camp food. Do not expect Johnny Carino's or Texas Roadhouse. The bunks in the cabins just have a thin foam mattress inside of a plastic sleeve. But then again you are at camp. I am definitely looking forward to going back next year
