The Lakes Area Recreation Association (LARA) is a volunteer-run nonprofit in the Chisago Lakes area that provides affordable, supervised youth sports—football, lacrosse, baseball, soccer and more—serving over 2,000 area children each year, along with short skills clinics. It is a community rec-sports organization rather than a summer day camp.

So far the LARA program has been amazing! My child is first year in soccer and seems to be enjoying it. She has a great team with great coaches and the communication has also been spot on. Thanks so much for providing the kiddos with a program that helps them build skills!

We had such a pleasant experience at the tournament you hosted last weekend. It's apparent that LARA is run by passionate, dedicated volunteers. Thank you all for a wonderful time!

LARA allows coaches to display poor sportsmanship that trickles down to it's players. I am a Chisago resident and Alumni that open enrolls to a different district due to the lack of funding and experience this program gives back to the community. Forcefully fist bumping players and coaches of opposing teams is not the type of behavior I condone or would want my children to be a part of. Losing / Winning in grace is something kids should be also taught on the field of play.

I love LARA sports. It is fun and relaxed. The kids enjoy themselves

For how invested the chisago lakes community is in their schools, it's a shame that they don't have a better program for sports. LARA is the only real option for our area. They seem very unorganized and poorly coordinated. It's virtually impossible to get an email back from anyone through the site and they are bad about updating sport information, schedules and other event information. My children want to play sports and this year two of my kids are signed up however I am so insecure about when things are schedules and who the actual contact person is. Last year i had tried to sign my son up for baseball and we got emails that the start date was postponed because they didn't have a coach lined up yet.. I hadn't heard anything for weeks then when i finally got a hold of someone it turned out that they did start the practices and games but didn't tell anyone the details thus my son missed out on multiple weeks of the sport and we had to cancel and get our money back.. definitely frustrating that our area doesn't invest more in the sports association like they do the schools. We truly love the schools and hope that sports are more of a focus!
