Powered by GoogleIt's a wonderful facility with so many programs and opportunities for families. However, one major thing I wish had been considered during the renovation is accommodations for our young special needs community. In a family-centered city like Lakeland, where the number of children needing services continues to grow and therapy waitlists can stretch on for years, it feels like a missed opportunity. Parents of children with special needs—especially single mothers—are often isolated, burned out, struggling with depression, and carrying the weight of caregiving around the clock. Something as simple as inclusive child watch options, sensory-friendly spaces, or trained staff could give these families an hour to care for their own health and well-being. A community organization like the YMCA has the potential to be a lifeline, and I hope this is something they continue to seriously consider moving forward. I move that they have the discounted program for those that are indigent but...refer to former statements. :( its a vicious cycle.
I called this facility on Memorial Day to see about hours. After being on hold and first in line for 30 minutes I hung up. If you are closed or have different hours on a holiday then update your website and have a recording stating the hours so that no one has to waste their time!
We’ve had a membership for probably around 15-20 years…All three of my children have been through their child care, summer camps, and/or sports. We had zero issues and have developed good relationships with the staff in those areas. My wife and I mainly utilize the weight room and classes. Love the upgrades there. Overall great experiences if you’re wanting a “club” experience. Staff is just as great!
This place is amazing! They keep updating and renovating which means the place is really nice. Soccer and basketball areas, kid area, cardio, weight training, pool, and walking track. Discounts for LRH nurses and teachers.
I am extremely concerned about the cleanliness and safety of the large weight room area. On multiple occasions, I have been bitten by tiny bugs while working out in that space, leaving me itchy and uncomfortable each time. This is not a one-time incident—it has happened repeatedly, which points to an ongoing problem. It is also very noticeable that the area is not being properly maintained. I do not see floors being regularly mopped, and there is a consistent buildup of dust on and around the machines, especially in areas where debris collects. This level of neglect is unacceptable for a facility that members trust to be clean and safe. At this point, it is difficult not to conclude that the bug issue is directly related to the lack of proper cleaning and sanitation. This creates an unsanitary environment and raises serious concerns about overall hygiene standards. I expect this issue to be addressed immediately, including a thorough deep cleaning of the weight room and a review of cleaning protocols moving forward. Members should not have to worry about being bitten by bugs while using the facility.
