Wanted to find a more local chill vibe for my surf lesson, glad I went with Kona Mikes. Chad was a great instructor very knowledgeable and skilled. After 15 years, we finally got back to Big Island. We had fun trying to learn to surf with Kona Mike’s last time and went with them again. We had an amazing time and were able to ride our first wave thanks to Hanalei’s excellent instructions. He was patient and supportive, and everything just clicked. We would definitely recommend Kona Mike’s (Hanalei specifically) and will go with them next time (hopefully, sooner than 15 years). Note: manually type their address in your nav. Searching for them on Waze will take you to their old surf shop a few miles away.

We had a wonderful time with our 3 instructors for our first surf lesson: Hana, Toby and Chad. Our 5 year old daughter was in tandem with Hana. She felt very confident and had an amazing time! Hana made sure she was safe and even carried her on the board! Toby took great care of our 8 year old boy. Thanks to Toby, our son was quickly able to stand up on his own board and rode many waves. Chad was with me (the dad), he was very helpful and has provided great advises - I was even able to stand up. We thank you all for and we highly recommend this place for a surf lesson!
