Kids in New Directions (KIND) is a free, faith-based inner-city youth nonprofit in Dayton, Ohio (est. 1987) serving children in kindergarten through 6th grade in the 45403 and 45410 zip codes. Its summer program runs June through August, four days a week, with transportation provided; children are grouped by age for classes in Bible, reading, and social-emotional learning, plus technology and homework help from degreed teachers at roughly a 9:1 ratio. Each child receives a healthy snack and hot meal, and families take home weekly food.
