Joint Base Lewis-McChord Family and MWR is the base-wide morale, welfare and recreation organization serving military-affiliated families, covering child and youth services, youth sports and fitness, recreation, travel camps and cabins, and entertainment. Its Hillside Youth Center runs year-round after-school care, social activities and leadership programming for students in grades 6-12. ★Michael and KimPoor experience. You must register (send photo id) be approved, pay for a pass, and check in and out simply to walk through the bases wooded areas. If you want to pick flowers, bird watch, or simply be alone with your thoughts DONT GO HERE. There is a ?Game warden? Who patrols the area looking for people who don't have EVERYTHING lined up. Total embarrassment. JBLM is a total let down. I spent 24 years active service and am sickened with this. This is what happens when bureaucrats and Karen's are given even a gram of authority.
★Jason WNot so happy experience !!! I attempted to pickup some items that they were offering for sale. I was told to come to the building anytime before closing. I had to try and apply for a visitor badge to get access to facility. I wasn't told this information or anything else was required to retrieve items. I even asked them the day before what was needed to gain access or show up, which they never responded to me till the next day after I had already drove a long time and had an unsuccessful pickup of items. Then they told me they would not authorize me access to building since they "didn't know who I was, so they couldn't authorize" my visit in the morning. If I would've gotten better instructions, this could've have been handled better with all the nonsense. I wish they would've been more informed of the steps for next time of this same process......Not very happy of the handling and communication of this situation. Let hope they understand.
★Kelly NaquinHorrible experience. Son was so excited for family bingo. Showed up 40 minutes early and was told no more could enter since they were at table capacity. Many other families and children turned away. So much for helping cheer up a child when their dad is deployed.
★★Neal BaileyMy review is on Family park (RV park McChord) very nice place with spacious RV slots but, almost twice as much to stay here as it is on Camp Murray at American lake. And there you get a lake view! And WiFi! At family park I can’t get phone reception let alone WiFi. When we arrived they told us it was down and being worked on. Week now and no WiFi. For the money ($400 for 30 days) Camp Murray is the best bet. At McChord ($600 for 15 days and no WiFi)
★Jacob AllenThis MWR gouges you on prices, that arbitrarily increase the prices of any and all storage. They do a poor job of following through with things and require an unnecessarily high degree of oversight when conducting business with them. They are here for profit, not military families. Low accountability. Service members have little choice but to simply take it. Greedy organization.
