Powered by GoogleJust back from am amazing morning of.ski touring in the mountains with our guide Ryan from Jackson Hole MountainGuides. We were blessed both with some amazing snow, but more importantly a wonderful guide. Ryan's passion is sharing the outdoors with others. He is a mountaineering guide and a search and rescue professional. Ryan's experience helped us make some great choices to find some amazing snow creating some memories safely in an arena that is unpredictable and at times flat dangerous! We rented skis and boots from JHMG. The gear was in great condition and enhanced our experience!
If you are a hiker and are looking to stretch your abilities under the supervision of experts than JHMG is the company for you. We hired them for Disappointment Peak and Middle Teton and felt they supported us as we needed before and during the hike. We safely navigated both peaks and enjoyed fully our experience. Keep in mind this will cost you some dollars, energy, and soreness. For us it was worth every penny. Would love some day (monies and time willing) to do another trek with them. We shall see.
We made the best memories during our family climbing day! It was the first time our kids had done “real” bouldering, and now they can’t wait to do it again. Peggy and Phillip were so knowledgeable, engaging and kind, making it a fun experience for everyone.
Nickel our guide from The Mountain Guides exceeded expectations in every way. I've hired guides for multiple activities in the past, and he stood out. He was patient and encouraging with beginners (myself) as well as more skilled climbers like my son. I was worried at first that going out as a beginner would hinder my son's time as he's more proficient, but we both had the best day. He made the day approachable, fun, and challenging enough to feel like we had accomplished something. After a week in Yellowstone and the Tetons on a trip that included rafting, kayaking, amazing hikes, and more, this day was the highlight of the entire trip.
My family and I climbed the Grant Teton in July 2023. My party was me and my wife, both 34, my brother, 22, and my mother, 57. My wife and I have a fair amount of outdoor climbing and hiking experience, but my mom and brother are relatively new to climbing mountains and outdoor climbing. We had two of the best guides in the business, Matt Shove and Keith Sidle. Both are extremely experienced mountain guides with a massive breadth of knowledge, as well as great personalities to keep the mood positive on tough terrain! The hike to high camp is certainly difficult. My mother trained quite extensively with weighted packs before this trip, and still felt that initial approach to be quite difficult. Ultimately, it's great to know ahead of time what a 7 mile hike with +4200 feet of elevation gain feels like! Their high camp was a great experience as well! It felt great camping ON THE MOUNTAIN. Stars are night are amazing, and even though we experienced some storms and really high winds, that just added to the experience! The summit day was certainly much more steep hiking and scrambling, with some technical bits of climbing mixed in, mostly towards the top. My group has been climbing for some time so the climbing portion wasn't difficult for us. The overall fitness level to get up there was the "crux" so to speak in our group, but everyone did really well! Overall, our experience climbing the Grand Teton with JHMG was amazing, and I can't thank our guides enough! Can't wait for lap 2! Thanks Matt & Keith!
