Eight-week nonprofit summer camp in East St. Louis run by Olympian Jackie Joyner-Kersee's foundation. Campers rotate through sports and fitness, STEAM-Ag and gardening, arts and crafts, nutrition and cooking, Spanish and academic enrichment, with field trips and three mini-camps (Seed-to-Table, a USDA corn grant program, and a Boeing program) layered on. The foundation's 'Winning in Life' curriculum — 14 principles including confidence, dedication and wellness — runs through the program. The full summer costs roughly $200; the foundation also runs a school-year after-school program with transportation and meals.
