Powered by GoogleI can’t say enough great things about J31 Dance Center! My daughter absolutely loves her classes here, every week she looks forward to coming and dancing with her friends. The teachers and staff are truly amazing. They are patient, encouraging, and genuinely care about each student’s growth and happiness. The pricing is very reasonable and the atmosphere in the studio is welcoming and warm for both students and families. You can feel the sense of community as soon as you walk through the doors, and it’s clear that the environment is designed to help kids thrive not just as dancers, but as confident individuals. We couldn’t be happier to be part of the J31 Dance Center family!
My daughter attended summer classes at J31 Dance Center, and the instructors and class experience themselves were positive. Unfortunately, my experience with the administrative and billing side of the studio was not. After a trial class, I enrolled my daughter only in summer classes. Tuition, class details, and enrollment were discussed in writing, and the studio stated that the enrollment fee would be waived. At no point did I enroll my daughter in fall classes or authorize fall tuition. During our conversations, I did ask general questions about fall (such as how enrollment or fees would work if we decided to continue). However, these were informational questions only. I never confirmed fall enrollment, never signed an agreement, and never authorized charges for fall classes. All confirmed enrollment and follow-up communication referenced summer classes only, including messages confirming summer start dates. Despite this, my card was later charged for fall tuition. I contacted the studio immediately and provided text and email documentation showing that we had only enrolled for summer and that fall enrollment had never been confirmed. After initially responding, the director stopped replying once this documentation was shared. Instead of fully correcting the error, the studio issued only a partial refund and attempted to keep part of the charge by applying an enrollment fee that had previously been waived and was never agreed to as a condition of future enrollment. When I followed up again to resolve the matter directly, my communication was ignored. Because the studio would not fully address the issue or respond after evidence was provided, I ultimately filed a dispute with my credit card company. After reviewing the written documentation, the credit card issuer ruled in my favor and removed the charge. While the teaching staff, the billing practices, assumptions about enrollment, and lack of communication when an issue arose were disappointing. I strongly recommend that parents keep all communication in writing, closely monitor charges, and clearly confirm enrollment before any new session begins. ****After the owner’s response, I’ve added screenshots of the written communication referenced for clarity. These show that while I asked general questions about fall, I never confirmed or authorized fall enrollment, that enrollment fees were waived, and that the enrollment discussed and confirmed was for summer only. The disputed charge was ultimately reviewed and removed by my credit card company..
I love the is place so much, it has put me through some hard work but has helped me so much, I was not a a dance team but I was on the cheer team it was an amazing experience and I don’t regret it, even the competitions were so much fun
Both of my kids—ages 10 and 12—are part of J31 Studio, and it’s been such a positive experience for our family. One is in recreational classes and the other is a competitive dancer, and both have grown so much since joining. As a dance dad, it's important to me to be able to trust the environment my kids are in—both in terms of how they’re being coached and the kind of values being modeled. At J31, I know they’re being supported, challenged, and treated with respect. The coaching staff is highly experienced and held to high standards. The pricing is also very competitive for the Kansas City area, especially given the level of training offered to competitive dancers. One of the things we appreciate most is how inclusive the environment is. Kids of all body types, backgrounds, and experience levels are welcomed and celebrated. There’s a strong emphasis on body positivity and helping dancers feel confident and capable in their own skin. The community here is also a big part of why we stay. Families are supportive, encouraging, and positive—and it’s clear the studio works hard to maintain that atmosphere. Toxic behavior isn’t tolerated, which makes a real difference. J31 is a place where our kids feel safe, motivated, and excited to grow. We’re proud to be part of such a grounded and uplifting environment.
My daughter has danced at J31 for almost 5 years-4 of those with the studio’s competitive team. I have met my very best friends at the studio and so had my daughter. The owner has an open door policy and has always made time to meet with me if I ever had questions or wanted to discuss things going on outside the studio. The teachers and coaches have really made such an impact on my daughter and are always so encouraging!
