Island Lake Camp is a coed sleepaway camp in the Pocono Mountains of Starrucca, Pennsylvania, founded in 1986 and about 2.5 hours from New York City. It uses individualized programming in which campers build their own daily schedules from a wide range of activities, including all sports, tennis, gymnastics, arts, photography, theater, horseback riding, waterskiing, sailing, a ropes course, and a notable circus program with indoor and outdoor flying-trapeze rigs.

All of the counselors, specialists and staff are easily accessible and responsive to each child’s needs. Wendy is absolutely amazing!! She is energetic, nurturing and an absolute asset at the camp. My kids always looked at her as their camp “mom”. The Stoltz family provided a loving and fun environment. My kids would start their countdown to return to camp the day they would come home. The ability for kids to choose their own schedule was tremendous in creating kids who feel confident in making independent decisions. I can’t say enough great things about Island Lake!!
