Powered by GoogleCoach Kareem and his staff from the first day we met spoke of development. Coach spoke of developing our son into a technical, fundamentally sound, knowledgeable student of the game. He said he wanted to teach our son how to play basketball. That was a different perspective to me, especially from an AAU coach (no disrespect intended to any AAU coach) because I hear a lot about getting exposure for the player. But without fundamentals and knowledge of the game, what kind of exposure should one expect? In this “win now” era, I still believe a young player’s growth is more important than wins. Growth ensures that you learn how to win, not just basketball but also in life. That’s what Coach Kareem is about, growth. Our son has literally gone from a “deer in headlights” on the court to a floor general, student of the game. My son’s confidence has soared under Coach’s tutelage. He’s currently on his Junior Varsity team battling the Varsity squad members every day in practice. Everyday his goal is to show the head basketball coach that he is worthy, impactful, and deserving of a starting position. No two journeys are the same. There is no easy button. We are thankful and grateful to Coach Kareem and the IBA staff for helping to stoke the spark into a flame for our son. He believes in his ability now, and that happened due to the repetition of concepts, drills, emotions (kids aren’t always the easiest to talk to 😊) and genuine love for our child. Thank you IBA! IBA for life!
Very attentive to the needs of EACH individual player’s skill level. Willing to breakdown each move, play, etc without making the player feel like they are the center of attention or embarrassment.
