Illumination Learning Studio runs themed summer day camps for ages 5-11 centered on arts and the outdoors with some STEM, at its Greenwood studio in Seattle. Camps run 9am-4pm with before- and after-care available, and families can book a single week, a month, or the whole summer. Each themed week mixes in-house projects with field trips and daily outdoor play at local schools and parks. First-time enrollment carries a one-time registration fee.

Powered by GoogleOur daughter went here for one school year (last year; 2-3) and we were so happy with the program. It was a great balance of organized activities (each day of the week is a different focus — art, yoga, music, drama, and ASL/ Spanish) and free play / fun. We LOVED her teachers (Ky, Casey, Kendall, & Abby) — they were so joyful and patient and you can tell they were enjoying themselves and really cared about the kids. Our daughter’s vocabulary and overall development flourished in their care. We’re moving on because the hours are hard (8/9-12) with our changing job and family needs. But if we could swing it, we’d be there in a minute. This is not a paid review or even a suggested one — I just know how hard it is to find preschools that you feel good about. And I was just so so relieved to have found them.
We’ve had a wonderful experience with this school! My daughter started in the preschool program and is now in Pre-K, and she absolutely loves it. The staff and teachers are caring, supportive, and always helpful. She has learned so much through the program, both academically and socially, and we’ve seen so much growth in her confidence and development. It’s a warm, welcoming environment where children truly feel happy and supported. We highly recommend this school to any family looking for a great early learning program!
We heard about this place from our neighbor whose little boy loved it. We love it, too! After just three months, my 3 year old now recognizes most letters of the alphabet and numbers up to 10. He adores his teachers and every day when I ask him what he did at preschool, he says, “everything.” When I ask about his favorite thing about preschool, he says, “the playing”. I love that there is some structure that centers around learning but the kids are also playing and developing social/emotional skills. The teachers send a weekly newsletter summarizing what they did all week and include TONS of photos. I forward it to grandparents, who eat it up. Highly recommend.
Our family has been with ILS for about five years with both our kids attending their preschool and pre-k programs, after school care, and numerous camps. ILS is a small, family run business that truly cares about each and every family they serve! They employ a wonderful staff of teachers and para educators many who have been with the school for years. We really appreciate their open communication style including classroom updates weekly! Our eldest was in the 90th+ % for reading/math going into kindergarten because of this program. We visited several other “schools” in the Seattle area, but learned that most were really just daycares. ILS focuses on academics while making the lessons age appropriate and fun! Our kids really looked forward to going to school every day! Their focus on the arts is also something that drew us to the program. Our daughter started taking piano lessons with ILS at age 4.5. This experience really helped foster her love for music and dance as she has gotten older, helping with her confidence as well. ILS has been such a wonderful experience for our family over the years and we will be sad when it is time for our youngest to move on from their school but we know she will be well prepared for the next step in her education!
Update.... After two years at Illuminations I am updating my rating from 4 stars to a perfect five star rating. My original review had it at 4 stars because the school is only from 8am-noon but now I have more appreciation as to why that is. If it was a full-time school they wouldn't be a school but a daycare. Illuminations is more of a pre-k for parents that want more education for their little monkeys. Our son just graduated from ILS and loved the teachers and made great friends. Now I am concerned that he will be bored in Kindergarten next year because he has already gone through most of what that level is all about. Well see... For now though, Illuminations was the perfect fit for us. Thank you Molli, Mike and all the teachers that have taught our son for the past two years.
