Hoosier Heights Indianapolis is an indoor rock-climbing gym in Carmel that runs youth summer climbing camps alongside clubs and teams for kids roughly ages 7–14. Campers build climbing technique in the rope and bouldering rooms and play climbing games; its sister Bloomington location runs week-long summer camps from June through July. Indianapolis camp dates and hours vary by season.

Powered by GoogleThis gym is fantastic—easily one of the best in the state. The staff are welcoming, the rental gear is clean and odor-free, and the pricing is reasonable. One thing I really appreciate is that kids 6 and under climb for free, which has made it much more affordable to introduce my children to something I love. The intro videos do a great job explaining the basics of auto-belay and safety. Just a heads-up: the orientation process has changed. In the past, staff would walk you through both auto-belay and top-rope, check your belay skills, and turn away anyone they felt wasn’t safe. Now, if you’re new to top-rope, you’ll need to request an orientation from staff. That said, the team stays attentive during busy times and is quick to help with questions or concerns. Routes are reset regularly with a good range from beginner to advanced, and the auto-belay walls are well maintained. There’s plenty of parking, check-in is quick, and while it can get crowded during peak hours, going early in the morning or later on weekdays helps. Filling out waivers ahead of time also speeds things up. Overall, I highly recommend this gym for families and climbers of all skill levels.
This gym is a bucket-list must for any enthusiastic climber! Their huge, inverse bouldering tower with a sponge pit below is one of a kind...and SO much fun!!! I live out of state, and I will be coming back to this gym. 😉
This place is absolutely awesome. I came with my three boys (ages nine, seven, and four) and everyone was extremely friendly. The girl at the front desk got us checked in and watching the intro video within five minutes of walking in. We had shoes and gear within 10. It was very efficient. The walls are amazing and are better than just about any climbing gym I’ve ever seen. There was constant Bob Marley playing at just the right volume and we had an absolutely amazing time. We will 100% be back.
This is an absolute must do if you're anywhere near a location. We had never climbed before, they got us in an orientation, got us gear and it was all included in 1 price. Extremely helpful and within minutes everyone was climbing. Very cool and will definitely be back!!!
Our teenage son wanted to do a climbing party as part of his birthday celebration, so we scoped out Hoosier Heights. Totally worth it. We had a room of climbing walls all to ourselves, but the party could go out to the main area (together) and use the walls there. The staff was friendly and helpful. This was a great experience. Gender is unimportant with this activity. And I’m kinda outta shape, but when I climbed, I had a lot of fun, myself.
