Powered by GoogleGreat Scout camp! Nice amenities and facilities. Good dining hall, food and staff. Nice waterfront, the blob, sailing, canoeing and kayaking. Great shooting sports facilities. Hiking, biking trails abound. Good camp layout. Makes sense. Great high ropes course. Fun zip line. It’s hot in the summer. It is Mississippi. Mosquitoes and poison ivy so be prepared. Winter camp is perfect! 4-nights. Perfect weather. Merit badge classes and good times. Looking for a winter camp where you won’t freeze but can still experience some cool weather this is where it’s at!! Overall, one of the best scout camps in the country.
My son is a Boy Scout in Troop 85 and he absolutely loves this place. I truly believe scouts has been one of the best things he could have ever gotten in to. All of our leaders really put their heart into these kids and this place has been wonderful with helping them do that in every way possible. My son would live here if I’d let him.
It is a very amazing camp and all the staff are amazing ( especially eco and waterfront) if you go I would recommend doing the pistol, going on the night climb, and the lake stargazing!
Kayak launch, near Pelahatchie Bay on the Ross Barnett reservoir, walking and bike trail, parking for about 10 vehicles
Just returned home from HSR Summer Camp week 1 and I must say that I am completely blown away. This is a first-class scout reservation here. Our boys had the time of their lives while making memories that will last forever. HSR offers a wonderful atmosphere with some of the best facilities. However, after meeting with our scouts, it wasn't only the shooting area or beautiful waterfront that our scouts commented on loving; it was the staff. When the staff can elicit that same excitement as a zip-line, the blob, or gaga ball, you know you have something special. Those guys have something great going on at HSR. We had an amazing time and I look forward to returning again next year. Troop 769 Prairieville, LA
