Historic Roscoe Village

Bought the tour. The buildings closed before 4 pm. We feel cheated. Museum was not included. Person at info counter did not know much. Sent us to restaurant that was closed and didn't tell us museum was separate price.

The village is primarily a retail area of shops and cafe/bars with scattering of restored living history exhibits. The Visitor Center has a museum on the second floor with more retail items. Visiting out of season, there was plenty of parking. But in season I bet this place is a parking/traffic nightmare. Several of the visitor desks were un- manned. The one person manning the center was totally disinterested in engaging with us. We were treated like a nuisance. Not a good look for a public facing job. The price for tickets to the living history displays were reasonable. But could be pricey for a big family.

Such an awesome place. Be sure to stop into the visitors center, the lady working there so so friendly and informative. If you want a boat tour or the self guided tour plan to arrive earlier in the day. We arrived too late to do those things, so we will have to go back again. But the shops were amazing and everyone was incredibly friendly.

We enjoyed our visit. Learning the history of the town and the canals was very interesting. The tour was informative and the shops were fun to look through and all the shop owners/workers were helpful and friendly. Going on the canal ride was a fun and it has a gift shop and large parking lot. There is picnic areas near the main museum with a small shopping area and restrooms. The little shops were cute and informative some had people who dressed the part, gave demos and answered questions which was really nice others just had videos you pressed and though still imformative would have been nicer to have people. The only thing we were disappointed about was not being able to try activities, it would’ve been nice to try the broom weaving, or make some candle making or printing press etc having something hands on at some of the stops would make it better. The scavenger hunt available in the museum was fun for my son and I. Overall we had a great time and would absolutely come back for a nice stroll and a visit.

We enjoyed our short visit walking around the shops. We didn't but the tickets for the museum part of it so I can't comment on that. It was a nice place to visit for the afternoon. Love the different shops and the ambiance of the street. It was very peaceful and not a long distance to walk. I would suggest parking at the Welcome Center instead of on the street. Lots of information at the welcome center.
